Meeting Tipping Mar

Mike Korolyk, SE
Associate

Mike Korolyk has a broad and unique skill set, making him a key member of the Tipping Mar team. He has developed an aptitude in the nonlinear analysis of structures for seismic-resistant design and uses his extensive skill in computer programming to manage the mountains of data involved in such problems. He also possesses strengths in structural design and drafting, so that the fruits of his efforts are well informed by an expansive view of whatever project he is working on.

Mike earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering and his M.S. in Structural Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. Right after earning his civil engineering license in 2003, Mike spent the summer volunteering his services in Guatemala, performing surveying tasks for a new church and community center in Quetzaltenango. At John Yadegar and Associates, Mike continued to develop many of his practical design skills, mainly on small, wood-frame residential construction projects. He also designed many miscellaneous modifications for various types of structures owned by Pacific Bell. He then served as project engineer at the KPA Group in Oakland, where he developed cost-effective structural designs that nonetheless wholly met his clients’ needs. He greatly contributed to several design schemes for the Alameda Juvenile Justice Center as part of a team vying to win the design-build contract.

Mike joined Tipping Mar in 2006 and was promoted to associate in 2011.
