History.

Tipping Mar + associates is a highly skilled structural engineering firm dedicated to engineering excellence, creativity, and innovation. Our unique, award-winning approach emphasizes early collaboration with architects and contractors to provide the greatest value in seismic and sustainable design. We rely not only on the technical expertise of our staff, but their imagination.

We continually refine these qualities to produce designs that perform well, are easily constructed, and, most important, provide the highest value for our clients. This isn't a rarified ideal for us - it is our business model.

Skills.

Without losing our practical design roots, we have added both state-of-the-art analytical tools and realistic mechanism-based earthquake performance strategies to our skill set. These advanced techniques are not only directly applied to performance-based designs, but they also improve the quality and reliability of all of our projects.

Value-Added Service.

We exploit the fact that construction savings can be leveraged by engineering work. We integrate "value engineering" practices into our projects and work with contractor input during design rather than after.

Tipping Mar + associates receives frequent recognition for design excellence from our peers. In 2001, our firm became the first company to earn design excellence awards from the Structural Engineers Association of California for four years running.
