An update of traditional details creates an open, welcoming place of worship.
To create a space as modern and eclectic as the worship at Saint Gregory of Nyssa, Tipping Mar collaborated closely with the architect to create a multi-part, single-volume space that incorporates a tower room and timber frame dome with cupola. This unique nave also serves as a frame for the church’s many beautiful art pieces.
The building elegantly merges modern and traditional styles, Eastern and Western. Uniting these disparate elements are the exposed structural elements, which combine beauty and utility.
Tipping Mar implemented many subtle details to achieve the architect’s desired aesthetic. For example, while the structural members are exposed, a traditional yet complex assembly conceals the connections.
